Sayonara and Hello!

Goodbye and Hello, friends!

I finally got my sculpting blog back, which feels great, but while this site was locked away from me, I’ve been active on my website Geminick Unleashed, which is a mix of a website and first and foremost a blog. Today, I moved all of the posts from this blog to Geminick Unleashed and I intend to stay in one place with all of the things I do and create. So, from now on, you can find me there! 🙂

I hope those of you who check this site every now and then will come join me on my much more active site!

By the way, wanna see how Ask is doing? You can see the latests posts about him here. I guess I can also show you a picture of him while I’m at it. 🙂

Cheers friends!

Hi everyone!!

The Sound of Silence ended up taking over a year to end – not because I’ve been silent, but because I forgot my WordPress password and deleted my e-mail account with all the details in them! I felt so stupid and incredibly sad to see this blog just slowly fade away… But today I found the damn password written down in an old notebook I had packed down into a box I just brought back from my parents’ place! Last June, I moved in with my boyfriend and this June we moved into a much bigger apartment, so everything’s been a little messed up haha!

But oh my gosh, I AM BACK YOU GUYS!!

Soon, very soon, this place will be blossoming again, I frikkin’ swear it. I’ll see ya guys, I hope some of you remember this place!

The Sound of Silence

Hi everyone. 🙂

Sorry for the long wait without updates!
I have decided to put this blog on hold for a bit, because I’m just about to lose my sculpting room in the house, which basically means I have no place to sculpt at all, and my artistic spark is almost burnt out. Sad, but unfortunately true. I’m working on getting that spark glowing again, but it will take some time!

I’ll be back again, but I won’t say “soon”, as I’m not sure when I’ll return. I’ll see you all whenever! 🙂

2012 in review

The stats helper monkeys prepared a 2012 annual report for this blog.

Here’s an excerpt:

600 people reached the top of Mt. Everest in 2012. This blog got about 5,100 views in 2012. If every person who reached the top of Mt. Everest viewed this blog, it would have taken 9 years to get that many views.

Long time no see, folks! :B

Been busy lately, but I worked on Ask a bit today. When you’re away from your project for a while and then come back, suddenly you’ve gained some kind of clarity about what to fix and what to leave behind in said project. Sadly, I realized that ask’s hip joints really needed some extra work, and so far I’m glad I decided to fiddle with them, as they weren’t up to my standard before the changes.

Ask’s elbow joints were so-so before I started fiddling with them as well, but I’ve found another type of double joint I’d like to try so that’s what I’m going to do. 🙂

It sounds and looks like I’m still on square one, but that really isn’t the case. A project like this needs its tosses and turns in order to become what its creator want it to be, at least that’s my opinion.

But, really. I just want him to be done, haha.

I hope you all have a great Christmas!

Cheers, Jessica

Greetings everyone!

Sorry for my abscence from this blog, a lot of things have been going on lately!

I am just about to get back into sculpting, so hopefully this blog won’t be too silent from now on. 🙂

I’ll see you guys around.

Improving and testing

Hi everyone! 🙂

Yesterday’s sculpting session wasn’t very long, as I was really tired, but I worked a bit on Ask’s shoulder joints (they’re more or less finished now, so I’ll be painting them with gesso next time I work on Ask), and a bit on his hands (no pics of that, sorry!). I also put him together to take a look at how the modifications I’ve made to his legs looked strung together. Here are the photos!

By the way, the enormous sweater Ask’s wearing belongs to my Soom Chrom (Kostja), and yes, it’s huge, because Ask is one small dude. XD

Better photos….

….of Ask’s legs, that show that they’re not too short!

I am disgustingly proud at the moment, and I think the coming photos will tell you exactly why.

His legs look great! Although, looking at the photos, I’m worried they’re too short anyway? What do you guys think?

Also, the painted Ask head is the cast of the first version of him, before I modified his face. 🙂

Anyways, I’ll be gone from tomorrow morning til Monday evening, so this is it for now til then! See ya!

News on Ask!

So…. I bet people are wondering how everything is going with Ask, am I right?

I’ve worked on him every day this month so far, except for two days, I totally missed the 1st of November, and this past monday I worked on Embla during the BJD workshop course instead of Ask. The goal was to work on Ask every day of the month, but I think it’s okay if I work on other dolls, as long as I’m sculpting.

This week has been spent fixing up the boy’s legs, both his thighs and his calves. I have also covered some more parts in gesso and have sanded them a little. I have also worked on his shoulers and his neck, as well as his feet. Everything is going really slow, as always. I’m starting to think I might not have another mode than “Slowpoke”. Feeling kind of stressed out about that. Working on it.

Clementine is the same as before, I haven’t touched her since I created the base for her body, and she’s going to stay that way for a while. I need to finish Ask before I do anything else.

I’m hoping to have some new photos posted later today/tonight, since I’ll be working on Ask for another couple of hours toda, too.

After today, however, I’ll be silent again for another week or so, since I’ll be leaving for UmeĂĄ early tomorrow morning, and meeting up with some internet friends for the first time (should I feel nervous?). Of course, I can’t work on Ask during the days I’m gone, but I’ll make sure to take at least one doll related photo every day.

Random thought of the day; I really like hos Ask’s legs look at the moment. So much longer and rounder. Lovely!

I’ll be back later, with photos. Cheers!
